Bid NOW in Radiohead Ticket Auction for Sunday’s LA Haiti Benefit

January 22, 2010
One of the advantages of living near Los Angeles is there are a lot of celebrities and rock stars around living and working. And sometimes that means the opportunity to attend last minute shows, like the Radiohead Haiti benefit announced yesterday. Radiohead’s recording right now but will take a break to do the show.
An on-line auction for tickets to attend the “Radiohead for Haiti” benefit went on sale last night, Thursday Jan 21, and will close tomorrow, Saturday January 23 at 11am California time. The show is this Sunday,  January 24, at  The Music Box Theatre at The Fonda in Los Angeles, and will raise funds for the relief effort in Haiti. Doors open at 7pm.  All proceeds go to the Oxfam Haiti relief fund.
In order to raise as much money as possible, tickets are being sold by auction. Right now (12 hours or so into ticket sales with almost 24 hours to go), the minimum bid per ticket is $275; you can get a pair. As much as I’d like to see Radiohead and help out Haiti, this is out of our budget! You did see that Thom Yorke will be performing at Coachella in April this year? If you can’t wait, check out the Radiohead Channel on youtube. I chose the video above of Radiohead’s “15 Steps” because I felt it fit into the theme of the Haiti benefit–as well as the Rainbow Coalition benefit/Seven Deadly Sins” Fashion and Variety show “Angels & Saints –where members of the San Buenaventura ArtRiders Bicycle and Social Club will be riding bikes down the catwalk!

Tickets ended up going for $475 a piece and the venue I think holds 1000 maybe 2000 people. That’s a lot of money raised!
