Lucent L’Amour, Mardi Gras & Yogathon: Show Some Love for More February Fun:

February 12, 2009

mardigras20092For the next three Saturdays in February, let me recommend some wild and wonderful places to go and activities to do that not only are good, but also do good.

First up, this Saturday, Valentine’s Day, February 14

When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars

watch the film Hair at Place of Peace in Ventura at a VCCOOL fundraiser. On Valentines day, the Moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars… Open your heart to an Aquarian experience, and help heal the planet. For more about this month’s astrology, go here.

In downtown LA, on Valentine’s Day, join the troubled Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art and get into the opening

The work of Dan Graham has been central to the development of art since the 1960s—from the rise of minimalism, conceptualism, and video and performance art to explorations of architecture and the culture of rock and roll.

After the opening, you’re already in the neighborhood to join The Do Lab’s Lucent L’Amour. That’s on Valentine’s Day Saturday in downtown Los Angeles (see flyer below).

The following Saturday, Feb. 21, join me in costume for Mardi Gras  at the Ojai Women’s Center Saturday February 21.

February closes with the first Kids Arts Yogathon and an evening Kirtan in Ventura  Saturday February 28. Click flyers to enlarge.yogathonflyer_8_flatsm1

If the kirtan doesn’t float your boat, on Saturday Feb 28 there’s an Arts Showcase and Fundraiser at Ventura High School, a poetry reading by Paul Willis at Santa Barbara City College and one by Dian Sousa at the Bell Arts Factory.

Before the month is over, look for “Light Up You & Your Bike” workshops to prepare us for the Electric Light Parade First Friday ArtRide March 6.
