February 3, 2009

Above is the first 9 minutes: “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” then “Born To Run” then “Working on a Dream” and finally, below,  “Glory Days”:

I know millions of people saw the Super Bowl on Sunday. But that also means millions of people (like me!) didn’t–and some of us who might enjoy seeing Bruce Springsteen and the E street Band’s half time show, so here you go! And if you’ve seen it already (maybe more than once!)

Start the top one and then the next—- I dare you!

The mash-up is great–you’ll see!!! Let me know what you think in the comments!

These two songs as you can see from the video are real crowd pleasers–the choice of “Tenth” surprised some Bruce fans but it was a great warm up and intro song, and followed up by his great hit “Born to Run” reminding folks and home and on the field what great music Bruce and the band has produced for over 35 years.

“Working On a Dream” is fresh off Bruce’s new album, released just a few days before the Super Bowl, and doing a gig like the Super Bowl allowed him to bring in a choir to sing along, like he did at Obama’s Sunday Inauguration bash for “The Rising.”

The close with the classic and top 10 single hit from 1985 of “Glory Days” seemed like an ironic or tongue in cheek gesture, especially when seen in the mash-up. Who’s “Glory Days” is he commenting on?

The Big Monkey says, imagine from those 13 minutes that you just watched, a 2 and a half hour show. Or as Bruce said in an pre-game interview, you’re walking in on the last 12 minutes of a three hour show.

If this all got you itching to go see him, he just added another date in LA: Thurs. April 16 and he’ll be performing at Bonaroo in Tennessee. Here’s the list as of today of who’s playing at Bonaroo in June 2009:
